FIT FEM OF THE MONTH - MAY 2015
A few months ago, I decided to offer something completely new to The Fit Fem. I’ve decided to beta test a new program called the 12 Week Transformation Program where women would challenge themselves to commit to 12 weeks of complete transformation – from 2-3 days a week of committed exercise with their very own in- home personal trainer, a nutrition plan, and Facebook group to keep these women accountable. This wasn’t just a package of personal training. This was about COMMITMENT! This was about true TRANSFORMATION!
I went on a hiring rampage obtaining only the best female trainers on Long Island and NYC to get this going. And I chose women who were literally an extension of my vision. Like I’ve said before, I am a woman on a mission – to empower women through simple, convenient, & fun fitness.
Here’s the kicker…I went and advertised this on Facebook. People who were reading about us had NO IDEA who we were or what we are about. You see, most FB advertising is “get a 6 pack in 6 weeks” and offer short-term solutions to a problem most women have for a lifetime. And as you know, The Fit Fem ain’t about short term solutions…it’s a band-aid, not a true solution to this pain point (women suffering in desperation about their bodies absolutely hating the way they look and feel.) This breaks my heart!
To change this we have to start from a mindset of “I LOVE MYSELF”. This is the only way we can truly transform our bodies but most importantly our lives.
I got on the phone with what we call in the biz a “lead”. Mickey reached out to us after seeing this crazy pop-up ad on Facebook. Not easy huh? I mean really, how can she trust me or The Fit Fem? For all she knew, we could have been scammers just like a lot of the crap you see on social media. But she took a chance! I spoke with her personally…for quite some time. I got to know her on a very deep level. I said to myself, I HAVE TO HELP THIS WOMAN!!!!
And she agreed and signed up as the very 1st 12 Week Fit Fem’r. Now we’ve got more than a handful on this program absolutely loving this program & movement.
Before I continue talking about Mickey, let me interject by first celebrating Emma, our Fit Fem trainer, who truly gets it! She is by far one of the most caring, invested, and hardworking trainer and coach I’ve come across. I feel so blessed she is a part of my team. She’s also down to earth, artsy, funky, cool, and unique. I love that kind of diversity. You know they say, when you start a movement, you have to have the right people who believe in what you are doing. I definitely, FINALLY, have that!

Here is what Emma had to say about Mickey:
“Mickey was our first client to sign up for the 12 Week Transformation Program and when I met her she was in need of a change. She came to The Fit Fem to lose weight but what she gained from the 12 Week program was so much more. In the 10 weeks I have been working with Mickey, she has lost 14 lbs., she is able to firmly hold a plank for 30 seconds, she has eliminated gluten from her diet, revamped the way she and her entire family eats, and is on her way to being a highly active person. Mickey walks now to and from destinations instead of jumping in the car and has given up her one vice, diet soda. She used to drink diet soda every day and now she hasn't had it since we started the program!
Though her physical progress is incredible I have to admit the most amazing aspect of Mickey’s progress is her emotional development. Mickey grown to accept the strong and powerful woman she is and to accept that eating and lack of exercise was a way to hide from her power. She has confessed that over the 10 weeks, she has had 15 years worth of emotional stress lifted off her shoulders. She makes the connection between having uncomfortable feelings and eating through them and now making the choice to not eat when uncomfortable; this has had a profound effect on her mental awareness of herself and her physical well-being.

Let me list out the results one more time –Mickey has achieved the following and her 12 weeks aren’t even over!
- 14 lbs. released
- 30 seconds holding a plank (from 0)
- Gluten eliminated from her diet
- Family is supportive and ON BOARD! (This is a biggie!)
- And “15 years worth of emotional stress lifted”
Can you imagine what all this feels like? Yes, I can…it’s AMAZING!
Now Mickey was a bit camera shy to show off her exercise action shot but we took a pretty selfie instead. Mickey is like you and me…she is a REAL, every day woman wanting to not only be an incredible mom and wife, but an incredible human being.
