Just Like That It’s 2015
Oh my goodness it's 2015!
I still can't believe it. It seems as the older I get, the quicker the time passes. I remember as a child, the days were long and years seemed longer. I would look at 30, 40, 50, 60+ year olds as OLD, and now look at me! My child self is in awe of what I've become today.
With age comes a ton of wisdom. I don't take every living moment for granted anymore. And while I absolutely hate resolutions .... (I'll tell you why in just a moment)....I promised myself that this is the year I cherish as many living, breathing moments I can.
This were the promises I made myself. ( I talk to myself and say...)
"Syl, I promise you that I will imprint every moment I laugh and smile in my memories. In moments of anger, anguish and frustration, I will remember that I am resilient and a survivor because moments pass very quickly and pretty soon I will laugh and smile again. I promise to pause and take a deep breath, especially in those moments of anger. I promise that when I feel like things couldn't get any worse, they probably could and so I will say a prayer of gratitude and be thankful I am alive. I promise that I will treat people with respect & love and that I will treat myself the same way. I promise that I will continue to love my body no matter what. I will remember that my time on this earth is limited and so I will do what I can to make the most out of it. I will honor myself through clean food, movement - plenty of exercise, especially ChoreoKick!!! - rest, & play. I promise to dream bigger. I promise to act on my dreams whether it's to provide the best content to you, the best quality of service to Fit Fem clients & students, and present my best self to everyone I encounter and in every opportunity that will allow me to grow as a professional and a human being. I promise to remain positive because ya know what, 2015 is MY year as it is YOURS!!! I promise to ROCK!!!!!"
Because of these promises I don't need to make a crazy, over the top, unreasonable resolution that I will most likely fail to accomplish.
Here are examples of health/fitness resolutions most people make:
"to lose 30 lbs"
"to eat only salads and chicken everyday"
"to get up at 5am to exercise"
I mean you can see some of these are a)super vague and b)ridiculously unattainable to do every day in 2015.
How about setting mini daily goals everyday like:
"1 super healthy clean meal a day so I can make clean eating a habit"
"an extra 10-15 minutes of movement a day"
"an extra 10-20 minutes of sleep a day"
"a date night a week with my significant other"
"a 5 meditation session"
"a pushup/squat/plank/pullup attempt a day"
"attend my favorite dance class a week"...
You get the picture right?
So tell me what is the one thing you will do a day that will help you get closer to being the best version of yourself? And even better, can you share with me what your 2015 promise statement is? Trust me, write this down and shout out from the mountaintop! This is how you become a SUCCESS! When you declare exactly what you want to be in life! Can't wait!!!
