J.Lo and the #BeTheGirl Insanity Weight-loss Challenge

Well, where should I begin with this whole #BeTheGirl weight-loss challenge created by J.Lo. In a single word, it is simply HORRIBLE.  My blood BOILED when I watched J-Lo encourage other women and girls to “train” when she trains, “eat” when she eats, etc, etc.  Fat burners. Supplements. Competition. These are not the aspects of a healthy diet. What is J.Lo thinking???

These are the types of diets that need to be avoided. J.Lo is role model to many and she is using that power to sway people towards a weight-loss plan that is COMPLETELY unhealthy, dangerous, and completely unnecessary.  Why to make a few more bucks? Does she really need to make more money preying on the insecurities of others? Stick to the movies and music Miss J-Lo!

Ah, the weekend is upon us and we all know what that means – happy hour drinks, sleeping in and Sunday brunch. I know it can be difficult to squeeze in a full workout on the two days you are free from work responsibilities, and of course, there is nothing wrong with enjoying life but…you should try and get a quick workout in between cocktail events.

Just Like That It’s 2015

Oh my goodness it’s 2015!

I still can’t believe it. It seems as the older I get, the quicker the time passes. I remember as a child, the days were long and years seemed longer. I would look at 30, 40, 50, 60+ year olds as OLD, and now look at me! My child self is in awe of what I’ve become today.

With age comes a ton of wisdom. I don’t take every living moment for granted anymore. And while I absolutely hate resolutions .... (I’ll tell you why in just a moment)....I promised myself that this is the year I cherish as many living, breathing moments I can.

That’s right! My good friend Vinnie Tortorich and I hung out again. Not sure if you recall but a few months ago I was introduced to Vinnie. He is a celeb trainer, model, author, leader of the NSNG movement, and host of “America’s Angriest Trainer” podcast. Love Your Body Type - New Program!

I’ve had some major insights this week, mainly revolving body image and confidence.  For the longest time, I tried to look like someone I’m not.  And I bet I’m not the only one who tried either.  Naturally I did some research on why this is and here are some facts and startling statistics.

First, what is body image anyway? Body image is someone’s perception of what his/her body looks like and it’s an assumption of other people’s perceptions as well. Friends, families, societal pressures and pictures expressed in the media influence this image perception.
